Delicate Dianthus flowers add a slightly spicy, clove-like flavor to these buttery shortbread cookies.
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8-10 UNS Dianthus flowers (pressed & dried for garnish)
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add flour, lemon zest, and vanilla; mix to form a dough.
- Roll out and cut into cookie shapes.
- Press a UNS Dianthus Flower onto each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
- Cool and serve with tea!
