UNS Caramelized Leek & Mushroom Tart

Savory, golden, and packed with earthy flavor, this rustic tart highlights the subtle sweetness of UNS Leeks with umami-rich mushrooms, creamy cheese, and flaky puff pastry. Perfect as a brunch centerpiece or an elegant weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups UNS Leeks, cleaned and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (button or cremini)
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme (fresh or dried)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese or goat cheese
  • 1 sheet puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash – optional)

Method

  1. Caramelize the leeks In a skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat. Add UNS Leeks and cook slowly for 10–12 minutes until soft and lightly golden.
  2. Add mushrooms and seasoning Add mushrooms and thyme, season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 5–6 minutes until everything is tender and fragrant.
  3. Assemble the tart Preheat oven to 200°C (392°F). Roll out puff pastry on a baking tray. Spread cream cheese over the base, leaving a 1-inch border. Top with the leek and mushroom mixture.
  4. Bake Fold in the pastry edges slightly and brush with egg wash if desired. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
