Red Rose & Saffron Rice Pilaf

A fragrant Middle Eastern-inspired rice dish infused with the delicate floral aroma of UNS Red Rose Petals and saffron.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup basmati rice
  • 2 tablespoons UNS Red Rose Petals
  • 1/4 teaspoon saffron threads (soaked in 2 tbsp warm water)
  • 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon ghee or butter
  • 1/4 cup toasted almonds
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method

  1. Rinse the rice and soak it for 15 minutes.
  2. In a pan, heat ghee/butter, then sauté UNS Red Rose Petals and cinnamon.
  3. Add the drained rice, saffron water, broth, and salt.
  4. Simmer on low heat for 15-20 minutes until fluffy.
  5. Garnish with toasted almonds and extra rose petals before serving.
